"Major Barbara"
"Major Barbara" is a play written in 1905 by George Bernard Shaw and later filmed with famous actors such as Deborah Kerr, Rex Harrison, Wendy Hiller, Robert Morley and Robert Newton (GB, 1941, 135 minutes).

The film was shown in cinemas in many different countries, and even in South America. In the former DDR (Democratic Republic of Germany), however, it was a censored version.
Predominantly Wendy Hiller was shown on posters to advertise it.
In "Major Barbara" G.B. Shaw raised a sensitive issue: Is The Salvation Army allowed to accept money from a weapons manufacturer? And is it allowed to help people and do good with it? Of course, in addition to money, love should not be missing in such a play.

The comedy has been performed repeatedly in various theatres up to the present day. For example, in 2009 "Major Barabara" was performed again at the Schauspielhaus Zurich with Julia Jentsch, August Diehl, Nicole Heesters and Robert Hunger-Bühler in leading roles.
Major Barbara is still performed today in larger and smaller theaters
