Medal USA, 1974
In the year 1974, an impressive Salvation Army medal was produced in the USA:
The edge the medal is marked with the words "Medallic Art Co. N.Y. Bronze". It has a weight of 53 grams and a diameter of 44mm.
The obverse side shows the superbly embossed portrait of William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army.
To the left of the portrait
a Salvation Army shield is arranged with the inscription:
"GENERAL WILLIAM BOOTH"
Further, the artist Adlai S. Hardin and the year 1974 are mentioned on the obverse of the medal.
The reverse of the medal shows, in the upper third, a cross with an "S" and two swords. This symbol is part of The Salvation Army crest.
Below, as if on an open scroll, the well-known verse from the Bible is written:
"INASMUCH AS YE HAVE DONE IT UNTO ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE MY BRETHREN, YE HAVE DONE IT UNTO ME" MATTHEW 25:40
In the lower third of the medal the picture of an open Bible is shown.
