Centenary Medal 1965
A medal, which appears almost like a paperweight, was produced 1965 in the USA to celebrate the centenary of The Salvation Army.
The medal is 68mm diameter and, as such, relatively large. It has a weight of 150 grams.
This Salvation Army medal was produced with the portraits of a male and female salvationist on the main side. The same design of the two salvationists was used on other objects, for example on an American First Day Cover.
On the reverse, under the design of the globe, is the inscription:
THE SALVATION ARMY SERVES GOD THROUGHOUT THE WORLD BY HELPING PEOPLE
"HITHERTO HATH THE LORD HELPED US" 1 SAMUEL 7:12
